Prince Harry has left the UK to rejoin his wife Meghan and son Archie in Canada, British media reported, as the couple starts a new life. This comes two days after the Buckingham Palace announced that it was severing all official ties with the Sussexes as they walk away from public life.

“The Duke of Sussex is understood to have left the UK for Canada on Monday evening following one of his final official engagements as a working royal,” Britain’s Daily Telegraph newspaper reported.

Harry and his wife Meghan–currently known as Duke and Duchess of Sussex –are bowing out entirely from representing British monarchy, shaking the centuries old institution.

The couple did not want to quit their royal duties but reluctantly accepted there was “no other option” if they wanted to cut loose from public funding and seek an independent life based on their own income.

HRH style dropped 

The couple have signed up a formal exit deal from Royal family which will see them give up their His and Her Royal Highness (HRH) titles. They will no longer receive UK taxpayers’ funding for their duties and will give up honorary military appointments. The couple has agreed to repay £2.4 million ($3.1 million) of taxpayers money that was spent on renovating their new Frogmore Cottage home on the Windsor Castle estate.
